Chapter 4  - “Safe and Go Back To Sleep”


           I didn’t want to wake up. I felt safe where I was and also alone. My brain started to wonder inside my head. What did I do last night? I tried to remember but nothing came to mind, I turn on my side with the light hitting my face. I coved my face trying to hide from the sun. “Hey look, she moved!” A familiar voice said as it touched my arm. It felt cold…
           I had to wake up, I tried to opened my eyes but made more movement in my hands. “Thank God! I thought she wouldn‘t wake up!!” Another voice yelled as it came closer to me. I knew that voice, it belongs to Rouge. I opened my eyes to find Rouge and Cream near my bed. Rouge carried a worry look as for Cream, she was trying to get closer to me with a smile upon her face as she held her hands right to the side of the bed.
           “What happen, why are you in my room,” I said as fear started to build in side me, realizing I wasn’t in my room. It was a white room with the words G.U.N.H written on the walls, a white counter, and a nightstand near me with couple of bottles with the labels ‘medicine‘ on them. What’s going on? I started to get up but Rouge place her hand on my shoulder to make me stop shaking in fear and said, “Amy, your in the hospital. It‘s best if you don‘t try to get up right now.”
           “Hospital? Since when?” I asked sounding shocked.
           “Since last night. The aircraft blown up and it almost took you with it,” She said calmly as Cream climbed on the bed and hugged me tightly.
           “Everyone was worried that the creature got you!” Cream said as she was about to cry. I tried to think back last night remember a hedgehog that resembled Sonic but wasn’t Sonic… That’s weird?
           “It did get me. It was holding me when the aircraft blew up. I remember the creature… It looked like Sonic but with blood  red eyes and black round them and I believe blood was streaming down from his eyes. I saw him. He was talking to me… He knew me…”
           Rouge nod to me then reply saying, “We believe you and the reason why it knew you is because the creature was one of Eggman Robots that went out of control.”
           “What!? No, it was alive. Like us. He was a lot like Sonic but a bit creepy.” I tried saying but Rouge shook her head in disagreement and Cream didn’t know what to say. Then Rouge place her hand on my shoulder and said, “I bet it was at night. Sometimes in the dark we see things that aren’t there.”
           “I saw it and I’m pretty sure it was no robot,” I said trying not to yell.
           “Actually Amy, it was a Metal Sonic you saw last night,” a voice said. The voice gave me a jump scared until I turn to see Sally walk in the door with flowers in her hand and Bunnie following behind her. Sally carried a concerned look as she stared at me, then continue saying, “After the crash, Metal Sonic was around hurting other people and some of the G.U.N. members that survived knew that they saw Metal Sonic killing and hurting our team. We started to believe that you might have ran into it since we found you in a horrible state of a coma and we had to get you to a hospital soon before shock kicked in.”
           “Coma… But that can’t be true, I was fine. I never once got hurt, but I saw something more than a Metal Sonic.” Sally signed wishing she could been somewhere else.
           “Metal Sonic was the only thing that was top secret on that aircraft and there was no other proof of anything else on there.” Sally said. That can’t be, I said to myself, than a thought came to my head…. The flash drive!
           “Wait!! The flash drive had something on what I’ve bee trying to talk about! Where is it?” I tried scanning the room for it but couldn’t see the drive on the counter or nightstand ……where is the flash drive?”
           “The flash drive is missing.” Sally said with a defeated sigh as she place the flowers on the nightstand and gave Rouge and Cream the stare of ‘Get out.’ They left of course, so did Bunnie but Rouge looked like she was about to put up a fight with Sally. Once they where out, Sally sat right next to me.
           “The flash drive can’t be missing? I had it last night.” I said to Sally,
           “We know,” She said, with a disbelieving voice, “We think it must have fallen as you where running away from the robot.”
           “You mean monster,” I said until Sally holding a hand up midway to shut me up.
           “Amy, we are positive it was a robot,” She said without giving it a second thought. I know what I saw, sometimes I wonder why she never believes me. Then again we never tried communicating with each other to understand one another.
           “It couldn’t be… I saw it…” God where is that flash drive when you need it… I covered my face with my hands, thinking my friends don’t believe me. Wait Sonic would! I looked up to Sally. “Where’s Sonic.”
           She gave me a crooked unhappy smile then replied, “He’s out. His mad at himself right now but don’t worry, he might come round later to check on you.”
           “What is he mad at? His done nothing wrong.” Sally looked at my bandages and looked back at my eyes. It hit me finally, Sonic was mad that he couldn’t get to me in time.
           “Oh,” I said as I looked down at my hands. Sonic won’t show his face for a while until he gets over the fact I’m ok. Sally finally lighten up as she realize I was hurt and smiled. as she handed me the medicine bottles from the nightstand.
           “Also this is what you need to take for the next 24 hours,” Sally said, “The doctor wants you to get as much sleep as you will need. Hopefully tomorrow the doctors will let you out.” She giving reassuring smile. I nod.
           As the night continued, everyone came and stopped by my room thru out the day. Even people I met so long ago who’s names I couldn’t think of. Never once Sonic showed up… My heart felt like it was sinking down to the bottom of the ocean. Can’t Sonic just coming in and check on me for at least a second, just to see if I’m alright?
           It started to go on to 9 clock pm as Blaze and Rouge dressed up in their dress as that payed their visit to me. Rouge was having a hard time choosing if she should stay with me. “I’ll be fine, go with Blaze! You haven’t left the hospital but a half hour just so you could get dress. Go and have a good time at Thriller’s for me,” I said smiling. I never want my friends worrying about me. I always want them to have a good time.
           “Are you sure, you’ll be alright?” Rouge said with concern in her voice. I nod my head. Blaze took Rouge way from my bed and headed out the door.
           “Of course, go have fun girls,” I said trying to hide the fact I don’t want to be here alone. But for Rouge, I don’t mind.
           “We’ll be back tomorrow to pick you up,” Blaze said as she smiled to me. I nodded. She shut the door and both girls walked down the wall way. I took in a deep breath and signed. Finally I can get some sleep. As time when on as I slept, a knocking noise came from the door.
           “Knock, knock, anyone home?” A voice said as I turn my head to the door. To my surprised, seeing a light blue hedgehog smiling at me. I couldn’t help but smile back at him.
           “Hello Sonic!” I asked in an excited tone. Sonic smiled back at me and came over to me, staring me down with his emerald eyes. “How have you been?” I asked.
           “I was worried about you, I’ve would have been here sooner but I got caught up with something,” he said. As he grab the chair near him and sat down.
           “It’s ok, I’m just glad you’re here,” I said.
           “Me too, anyways how have you been doing? Is the doctors letting you off easy?”
           “So far they are, but hopefully the doctors would let me out tomorrow.”
           “They said they would,” He said.
           “I know but I don’t trust doctors.”
           “And you never had before,” He gave a weak smile.
           “I know but I also don‘t want to be here,” I said as I crossed my arms. He nod his head and place his hand on my hand.
           “If I had my choice right now, I would have taken you out of this hospital and taken you to another whole world where nothing could hurt you ever again,” Sonic said. I couldn’t help but smile with the fact he wants me to run off with me. I looked up to his face not realizing that he kept on staring at me, like he’s been wanting to say something more. So I turned away blushing and laughed.
           “Ha, if only that world truly existed,” I said sarcastically.
           “There could be, if you are willing to come with me,” He said as I shock my head.
           “Sure I would love too but after I get out of here,” I said. Both of us laughed.
           “Of course you will!” Sonic said as he was calming down from laughing, he let go of my hand and was about to pull something from his gloves. “Also Amy, I did get something for you,” Sonic said as he pulled out a small white box with thin red shine ribbon that wraps round the box.
           “You did? Why?” I asked in shock Sonic would get something for me.
           “You’ll see” He handed me the small box, and I took it. As I held it in my hands, I could tell it wasn’t heavy. I took off the ribbon and opened the box. My mouth dropped at the site of the most beautiful gift. I’m not use to having something nice since my family never had the money and I never asked for much but looking that this gift. It was perfect for me. I held the golden heart shape necklaces in my hands, using the fingers touching the cravings what was grave in my name and the red gem stone in the shape of one tiny rose whose stem wrapped around my name. This had to cost a lot, there’s just no way of getting a necklace like this one, but also I never seen this kind of necklaces before. I always check out the jewelry stores but never came across this one, but I didn’t care because it came from someone I cared.
           “Happy 16th Birthday Amy,” Sonic said. I just realize the clock turn 12 am. Today is my 16th birthday and I’m trap inside a hospital for my birthday. But as of right now, I was to happy with the gift that I was going to cry tears of joy. I hugged Sonic tightly and whisper to his ear, “Thank you so much.” He hugged back not letting me let go of him. “Your welcome, Amy.” I moved back from him as I wipe the tears away and was about to put the necklace on until Sonic spoke out asking, “Could I put it on for you?” I nod my head and handed him the necklace. Sonic place the necklace round my head and hook it together in the back.
           After he was done, I felt something weird going through my body but I stop paying attention to it and I stared at the heart shape necklace that was shining in the light. “I will wear it always.”
           “I know and I hope you would cause it looks perfect on you… Since always,” he said as I smiled. He stared at me in a lovely way, he place his hand right on top of my hand and said my name in a soft voice. I started to blush. He chuckled and came closer to me.
           “Amy,” he said in a whispered voice this time as his lips where near mine, “I missed you a lot Amy.” My heart was beating a mile of a minute and my emotions where all over the place but I tried to keep calm and replied back saying, “I missed you too Sonic.” His face lighten up and my whole world has stop turning as our lips touched each other.
           I closed my eyes letting Sonic kiss me in the hospital bed. His kisses were as I imaged them…..amazing, that I started to moan. He would back away, then whisper a few words, some of the words mostly had my name or ‘don’t leave me again.’ I would reply saying, ‘I won’t.’ Soon he started kiss me more passionately than before, but somehow in those kisses there was weird taste in them…like licking old pennies. I guess that could have been him fighting Metal Sonic a few hours ago.
           We finally backed away from each other as we stared into each other’s eyes and  catch our breathes.  Sonic looked like he want to continue to say something but didn’t. He got up from his seat and smiled as he said those words I was hoping he wouldn’t say, “I believe you had a enough excitement for one day, I better go.”
           “No, could you at least stay for tonight,” I begged but Sonic just smiled and picked up the pill bottles on the table next to me.
           “Here, take your medicine,” He said as he gave me my medicine. I didn’t want to take it but I have no choice since he doesn’t want to stay with me. I took my medicine as a good girl and laid back on the hospital bed.
           “Thank you Sonic,” I said as I cuddle next to the pillow. I could feel the pain killers kick in. I didn’t want to fall sleep, I wanted to talk to Sonic more…
           “Your welcome Amy. Now go to sleep. I’ll be back here tomorrow,” He said as I felt myself almost gone, I could feel Sonic pushed the bangs from my face so he could stare at me some more. Then he lowed himself to my ears and whispered, “Soon I will full fill my promise and protect you like I should of have done before. My Rose…” He said and kissed my forehead, which caused me to smile.
           I wanted to say something but I couldn’t, so I turn to my side and was about to give into the night. I thought Sonic was about to leave, but I saw him placed something small on the hospital nightstand. I couldn’t tell what it was but he said something. Sadly I couldn’t understand him this time, then he walked away from the room to the lighted hallways.
